Wrong-way driver killed on I-285

A 19-year-old who was driving the wrong way on I-285 was killed when his vehicle crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer, according to Dunwoody Police.

The accident happened just after midnight Feb. 8. Jacob Blackmore of Marietta, 19, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes of I-285 when the accident occurred near the Ashford-Dunwoody Road on-ramp. Both vehicles caught fire after the crash.

All lanes of 1-285 east were closed for several hours and one lane was open at approximately 7 a.m. By 9:30 a.m., three lanes were open and all lanes were cleared by 11a.m., Dunwoody Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Carlson said.

The driver of the truck, 57-year-old Rory Stewart, was not injured, Carlson said.
