At least two county firefighters are under investigation for reporting to work while intoxicated during the snowstorm earlier this month. The DeKalb County Fire Department has placed two fire department employees on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the investigations.
Fireman William Corbett has been accused of being intoxicated while at work on Jan. 12, said Burke Brennan, the county’s chief communications officer. County officials have not said whether Corbett was driving county vehicles during the time.
County records dated April 2010 show that Corbett had not been disciplined in the prior two years.
Sources say another fireman, Capt. Marcus Josh Reed, is also on unpaid leave for the incident this month.
Brennan said the investigation should be concluded sometime next week.
