Weather conditions force cancellations, road closings

 

DeKalb County CEO Burrell Ellis is asking all DeKalb County residents to postpone any vehicular travel until the current weather conditions subside.
 
Since 9 p.m. Sunday until 2 p.m.. Monday, the 911 center has dispatched 919 calls, 748 for Police and 171 for Fire. This represents a 15 percent increase under normal conditions.
The DeKalb County Emergency Operations Center remains in operation, and has received more than 5,300 calls from 9 p.m. Sunday night through 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Many government meetings that were scheduled for today (Jan. 11) have either been postponed or cancelled. The regularly scheduled board meeting for the Development Authority of DeKalb County planned for Jan. 11 at the Holiday Inn - Downtown Decatur has been cancelled until further notice. The regularly scheduled board meeting for the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, will be postponed until Jan. 12 at 11:30 a.m.
DeKalb County has suspended sanitation service through Jan. 12 and will reevaluate conditions for the rest of the week at that time. 
 
The following roads were closed as of 3:30 p.m. Jan. 10.
 
I-285 Eastbound from Ashford Dunwoody to Chamblee Dunwoody, including ramps
The Clairmont Road Bridge from Peachtree Industrial Blvd. to New Peachtree Road
The intersection of Clairmont Road and Briarcliff Road
The intersection of Clairmont Road and Starvine
The exit ramp from I-285 at the Indian Creek MARTA station
Highway 78 Eastbound at Stone Mountain Park
I-285 Northbound at Indian Creek
I-285 Eastbound between Bouldercrest Road and Candler Road
I-675 Southbound from I-285, all lanes
The intersection of North Druid Hills and Willivee Drive
North Decatur Road in front of DeKalb Medical Center
Redan Road west of South Hairston Road
Rockbridge Road between South Susan Creek and South Indian Creek Drive
South Hairston Road at Main Street
East Ponce de Leon Avenue at Sams Crossing
