Police identify suspect in death of pro wrestler

UPDATE: Four murder suspects nabbed

A disgruntled customer fired shots into a Buford Highway night club early Sunday morning killing a professional wrestler working as a bouncer.

Chris Long, 33, was working at Shooter Alley, located at 5803 Buford Highway, when the 1:30 a.m. altercation occurred, according to Mekka Parish, public information officer for the DeKalb County Police Department.

Detectives have identified a suspect and have arrest warrants for Ahmed Gill, 31, Parish said. Gill faces multiple charges including homicide and aggravated assault.  Information provided by witnesses helped detectives to identify him as a suspect.

The disgruntled customer, who police have identified as Gill, was escorted from the premises before the shooting Parrish said. He returned to the club and fired multiple shots inside the building, killing Long and striking another customer, Rene Rivera. Rivera was released from a hospital on Nov. 22, Parrish said.

The 6-foot-4-inch, 375-pound Long was a “very gregarious, bigger-than-life” man, said self-described best friend Frank Aldridge, who runs the Atlanta World Wrestling Alliance professional wrestling school.

Long, who wrestled under the name “Solid,” was a wrestler and scout with Lucha Libre USA, Aldridge said. Lucha Libre is a New York company that produces live wrestling events around the country and on television.

“He was a great guy and a dedicated friend,” Aldridge said. “He had a thousand friends, at least.” Aldridge said that when they learned of Long’s death, “tough guys broke down and cried.”

Long is survived by a wife, Lisa, and two children.

Another "senseless" killing! I am almost 60 years old and I have never witnessed so much crime in my life! There is absolutely no regard for a person's life. People will kill you for looking at them. The times for "not" being too concerned for your safety are long gone. Criminals are bold enough now to kick your door down and come into your home when you are there! This poor victim was doing his job and this thug took him away from his wife and kids. He should "rot" under the jail!
