Suspect in Decatur strip club killing in custody

A 28-year-old man wanted in connection of the killing of a Decatur strip club co-owner is in the DeKalb County Jail, according to the Sheriff's Office jail log.

Joey Celestin was arrested on Wednesday and is charged with one count of murder and one count of armed robbery.

Terry Stephenson, 49, was fatally shot at about 1 p.m. outside Pin Up’s, a strip club he co-owned on East Ponce de Leon Avenue. He was approached by the gunman as he was leaving the club to make a bank deposit. Several shots were fired.

Business owners in the commercial-industrial corridor near the club said Tuesday they were shocked by the murder. Several said crime was rare in the area beyond the occasional theft.

Jim Riegert, owner of Progressive Methods Inc., an office supply store, said he thought violent crime was unlikely to occur at most of the businesses in the area.

“It seems like somebody looking for a lot of cash, which doesn’t have anything to do with us,” he said.

Not sure if Terry was co-owner with the previous owner or not. But he was a very good-hearted person who was easy to work with and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He did not deserve to lose his life like this.

The owners of the businesses around there are FULL OF IT!!! I worked at the same club for 4 years in the 90's when it was Guys and Dolls and the place was robbed 4 times, all involving a gun, and shots were fired twice. The 4th time the floor man was shot in the face! There were also times when police were called in because of a beating, because of counterfeiters and numerous other times! The place is dangerous and the long time owner has never taken any steps to correct this.....which got his new business partner killed! It should be shut down!

Terry Stephenson was a very nice person with a lovely family. The sooner this killer is caught the better for all.
