ML King 23, Luella 0: Running back Mack Brown ran for 130 yards on 23 carries before leaving the game with a hamstring injury in the second half. Quarterback Cameron Myers injured his ankle in the third quarter and will miss Friday’s game against Douglass. Myers and backup quarterback Kevin Byard each scored on quarterback sneaks. Dustin Lane had 12 tackles and Corey Phillips had two interceptions.
Southwest DeKalb 61, North Springs 0: The Panthers (4-1, 4-0 Region 6-AAAA) held North Springs to 27 yards total offense. Ken Malcome rushed for 245 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries in a little more than a half. Marques Dixon returned a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown, his third of the season. Andrecus Jackson also scored on a 23-yard run. Jabari Carney led the defense with 14 tackles, four for losses. T.J. Stripling and Muhasabi Wakeel each had 13 tackles, and Stripling had four sacks.
Stone Mountain 18, Lithonia 15 (OT): Edin Ibrimisomic kicked a 35-yard field goal in overtime for the Pirates (4-1, 3-1 Region 6-AAAA). The Pirates stopped Lithonia (2-3, 2-2) on fourth-and-goal at the 2 to preserve the win. Stone Mountain trailed 15-7 in the fourth quarter before Jhyree Harris ran for a 5-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion. Michael Gilbert caught a touchdown pass and ran for 66 yards. Chris Gilzeane was the leading tackler for the Pirates.
Dunwoody 20, Cedar Grove 9: Dalen Claytor rushed for 165 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown, on 20 carries for the Wildcats (3-2, 2-0 Region 5-AAA, Div. B). Deshawn Hawkins scored on a 50-yard interception return and Will Crochet scored on a 5-yard run. The Saints (2-3, 1-1) got their only touchdown on a 16-yard pass play from Willie Favors to Vincent Dallas.
Stephenson 13, Newton 7 (OT): Ronnie Shields caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Tarver in overtime for the Jaguars (4-0, 1-0 Region 2-AAAAA). Newton failed to score on its first overtime possession. Raymond Sanders ran for 110 yards and scored a touchdown. Seven starters were injured and five others sat out the first quarter for disciplinary reasons.
St. Pius 49, Therrell 13: Brendan Jones rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns on four carries for the Golden Lions (5-0, 2-0 in 5-AAA, Div. A). Cole Moon added 92 yards rushing and one touchdown.
