Two people were found dead in a vehicle on the evening of June 19 when the DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department responded to a house fire near Lithonia.
The identities have not been released of an adult and a child—both male—who were found in the vehicle inside the garage of the burning house, according to Deputy Fire Chief Norman Augustin.
The cause of the 8:30 p.m. fire is still under investigation but fire officials believe it started in the vehicle, Augustin said.
Foul play is not suspected, he said.
“It appeared that it was a car fire that extended to the house,” Augustin said. Approximately 70 percent of the house, located on Wellborn Hills Place in Lithonia, was destroyed in the blaze.
