                Atlanta Police officer Jarvis Farley was arrested by DeKalb County Police at approximately 2:50 a.m. on May 25 under suspicion of drunken driving after he was observed driving a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 128 miles an hour on I-285, where the speed limit is 55, according to a police report obtained by The Champion June 19.  

            He was pulled over near the Highway 78 eastbound exit. Farley showed the DeKalb officer his police identification and said he was on his way home. The officer said that when Farley was told how fast he was driving, he responded, “Oh, for real?”

            Farley’s clothing was stained and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, according to the police report, which also notes that the DeKalb officer detected slurred speech and a strong alcohol odor. Farley, who acknowledged that he had consumed “a couple of beers,” stumbled and failed to walk a straight line or stand on one foot without wobbling during a field sobriety test. There was a small unopened bottle of tequila in Farley’s shorts pocket, according to the police report. Farley was taken to the DeKalb County jail, where a blood alcohol test was performed several times. The lowest result was .142; the legal limit in Georgia is .08.

            Farley was charged with DUI, speeding and reckless driving, according to the report. His police equipment was taken from him and given to the Atlanta Police Department.
