The wife of a DeKalb County Police sergeant is in critical condition after being attacked during an apparent robbery outside her Lithonia home.
The victim returned home at 3:30 a.m. from an evening out with friends when she was physically assaulted outside near her garage, according to police spokeswoman Mekka Parish.
Parish said some of the victim’s personal items were taken.
DeKalb County Police Sgt. J. Banks, the victim’s husband was in the home at the time of the incident, Parish said. The victim’s daughter and daughter’s boyfriend were also there.
“No one heard anything,” Parish said.
The woman, who was found outside near her car, was taken to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Detectives have not identified any suspects and have not been able to determine whether the victim was targeted or this was a crime of opportunity, Parish said.
