LifeLine Animal Project's cat transport van stolen over weekend
The cat transport van of LifeLine Animal Project, an animal rescue agency based in Avondale Estates, was stolen in East Point on March 17.
The van is used to transport sick, abused and rescued animals, according to Therra Cathryn Gwyn, the group’s communications director.
Inside the van was a week’s worth of wet and dry cat food and kitty litter for the agency’s no-kill Kitty Motel, which houses dozens of rescued cats and kittens.
Among the items stolen were blankets, bowls and dog treats. Also in the van were cat traps used to capture feral cats for a neutering program.
“That van was practically a satellite office for LifeLine,” Gwyn said.
The royal blue 2000 Dodge Caravan was stolen from a residence after it was used to deliver cat supplies to an elderly woman who had recently had surgery.
“For us and the homeless animals we serve it was priceless—a lifesaver,” Gwyn said.
