Dunwoody man shot at apartment complex

A Dunwoody man was shot and killed Dec. 26 at the Pointe at Perimeter Apartments at 100 Ashford Gables Drive.

Ivan Perez, 32, was shot outside of one of the apartment buildings and was later transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“At about 3:43 [p.m.] the suspect confronted the victim and very few words were exchanged. The suspect then ended up shooting [the victim] multiple times,” Dunwoody Police Sgt. Mike Carlson said.

According to police, the suspect is a Black man who was last seen leaving the entrance of the apartment complex toward Ashford Dunwoody Road. Police said the incident was not a random shooting.

Atlanta Police arrest suspect in shooting death of rapper

On Dec. 26, Vinson Hardimon, 28, turned himself in to Atlanta Police and was charged with murder in connection with the killing of rapper Slim Dunkin.

Dunkin, whose real name was Mario Hamilton, was shot in the chest Dec. 16 at a recording studio on Memorial Drive. According to Atlanta Police, Dunkin was shot during a fight that allegedly started over a piece of candy.

A funeral was held for Dunkin on Dec. 23 at Berean Christian Church in Stone Mountain followed by a burial at Hillandale Memorial Gardens in Lithonia.
