St. Pius sweeps 5-AAA cross country meet

St. Pius claimed the boys’ and girls’ team titles, and Austin Sprague won the individual boys title Oct. 29 at the Region 5-AAA cross country championships at Mercer University in Atlanta.

Sprague won with a time of 16:46 and posted a 9-second victory over runner-up Zane Coburn of Grady. St. Pius had five runners place among the top 16 in the boys’ race.

Druid Hills had two top-10 finishers and Stone Mountain placed one runner in the top 10 in the boys’ race.

In the girls’ race, St. Pius claimed second through fifth to win the team title by 27 points over second place Woodward Academy. Devon Dabney was the fastest runner for St. Pius with a time of 21:37.
