Lakeside men's soccer in quarterfinals

As other hopefuls fell away Tuesday night, the Lakeside Vikings became the lone contender from DeKalb County for a run at a state championship.

A 1-0 victory against Hillgrove in round 2 of the playoffs placed Lakeside in the quarterfinals Friday night, May 2 at Starr's Mill High School in Peachtree City.

Led by keeper Yonathan Arroqui, defenders Stephan Drescher, Ben Feldman, Jacob Newcomer and Arthur Roche once again held their opponents scoreless.

The  team went to halftime with just a one goal lead on a perfectly placed corner kick from Martin Gonzalez to Alec Kann. The second half saw the Vikings continue to threaten, but it was up to the Viking defense to hold the score at 1- 0.

Round 3 match time this Friday in Peachtree City is 7 p.m.
