20th annual Decatur Arts Festival to be held over holiday weekend
The 20th annual Decatur Arts Festival will be May 24-25. Visual artists, dancers, vocalists, spoken word and other entertainers are slated to captivate audiences and provide entertainment throughout the weekend. The festival’s theme is “Be a Part of It.”
The weekend event will include an Artists’ Marketplace, a new Dance Festival, a film festival, literary arts performances, live music all day long on Decatur’s downtown bandstand, a juried artists market, the fine arts exhibition, a separate Children’s Arts Festival and more. The Decatur Arts Festival takes place on the Square in Downtown Decatur, while other events will be held at various locations throughout the city of Decatur and run through June 1.
The Decatur Arts Festival will celebrate the art work of 140 artists from across the U.S. The featured artist for the 20th anniversary poster is Corey Barksdale, a resident of Decatur. His paintings have graced the covers of books, magazines, and CD covers. His art currently hangs in the Sambuca Jazz Café, and his work has been exhibited at Seen Art Gallery.
